This week, Texas Longhorns women’s basketball coach, Vic Schaefer joined Quick Timeout podcast to talk defense. Today, I’m sharing with you several of Coach Schaefer’s drills he uses and referred to in the podcast.
Auburn Rebounding Drill
Emphasize both offensive and defensive rebounding with Coach Schaefer’s 3v3 drill called “Auburn.”
On the pass from the coach, the player on the elbow sets a screen for the shooter. The player on the wing always shoots on the catch. Play is live on the catch. An offensive rebound is worth 2 points. A defensive rebound is worth 1 point. A 3PM is worth 3 points, and a 2PM is worth 2 points. There are no out of bounds. The rep ends when the defense secures the basketball.
