⛹️ Weave 1v1 Rebounding
A shooting drill and rebounding drill in one, this has become one of my new favorites. Great for a quick 3-5 minute segment to use near the start of practice.
Ball starts in the middle, pass is made to the wing, pass is made to the other wing (i.e., normal weave action)
The first passer (from the middle line) is the offensive rebounder, the receiver of the first pass is the defensive rebounder
If the shot is made, the rep is done. If the defensive rebounder secures the rebound, the rep is done. If the offensive rebounder grabs the rebound, play is live 1v1 between the two rebounders.
Doug Novak Basketball Program Manual
Last week, I shared a link on Twitter/X to Coach Doug Novak’s website. Whether you’re looking for ideas on offense, program development, or motivation, it’s a great resource for basketball coaches! This weekend, I’m sharing a PDF he shared with me that served as a manual for the Army basketball program several years ago.
🏀 2v2 Rebounding
Here’s a variation on a rebounding drill I’ve used in the past. This is how it works:
The coach shoots with the defensive rebounding team on the blocks and the offensive rebounders around the elbows.
If the offensive rebounders grab the board, they can try to score the ball.
If the defensive team gets the rebound, they must pass it out to the coach before attempting to score as the offense.
Anytime a defensive team gets a rebound, they must pass it out to the coach.
The first team to score, wins. The loser must run a down and back.
