Want a simple, inexpensive way to continue to grow as a basketball coach? A Quick Timeout+ newsletter’s weekly basketball coaching resources will do just that! For only $5.49/month (or $49.99/year - 25% off!), you’ll get access to Xs & Os breakdowns, film edits, skill development ideas, exclusive coach interviews, and more. Don’t put it off any longer!

Whether you’re a 5-Out or Princeton Offense team, using breakdown shooting drills is a great way to rep common actions within your half-court offense. I’ve found it’s an effective way, especially early on, to help players learn the offense. And your players get shooting reps as well!

Away & Pop Contested Shooting

A common action is a simple away screen from the 5. In this drill, the player receiving the screen curls, touches the paint, then comes back to contest the 3PA from the screener.
