I recently had a chance to spend some time watching Coach Niko Medved’s Golden Gophers team prepare for an upcoming opponent.

If you run any semblance of Princeton offense, find a way get to a Minnesota practice! Whether it’s a teaching detail or a new wrinkle, I learn something new every time I attend.

Chin Point Flare

Instead of typical Chin action with the passer running to the strong side corner, the Gophers will have the 1 clear to the weak side corner (Frame 1). When the ball is entered to the 5, the corner man (4) will set a flare screen for the shooter then slip to the rim. If the defenders drop to the cutter, 2 is open on the wing. If the defenders stay high, the slip is open at the rim for 4.
