Ohio State’s Brandon Bailey
This week on A Quick Timeout podcast, Ohio State Buckeyes’ Brandon Bailey dives into today's defensive schemes in the NBA. Prior to coming to Ohio State, Coach Bailey was an assistant for the Detroit Pistons as well as a head coach for the Boston Celtics' G League team.
Q: What kinds of things at the NBA level do you think would help at lower levels?
Bailey: A few that immediately come to mind - off-ball coverage, X-ing out on defense rotations after help, ball screen coverage. But 9 times out of 10, the biggest thing that could have impacted the play was - was there physicality and pressure on the ball? No matter where you’re at (NBA, college, high school), especially in the pick and roll, that’s the one thing that everyone can focus on and it change and help your team defense.
