One of the more common questions I get from coaches is, “What all do you track in regard to player performance?”
Thanks to Hudl, all sorts of advanced stats are available after the game is over. But what about the things that aren’t available in real time? How about things that don’t necessarily show up in the box score?
I asked Miami (OH) head men’s basketball coach, Travis Steele, about the topic when he joined me on A Quick Timeout podcast. He broke down the RedHawks’ “Hustle Stats.”
After listening to Coach Steele, we took some of those concepts and created our own Hustle Stats sheet to reflect the things that mattered most to our program. We landed on eleven categories including things like shot selection, turnovers, FTs, finishing, and then assigned point values to each.
