Late Season Adjustments from Mark Cascio
This week on A Quick Timeout podcast, SAVI Consulting’s Mark Cascio makes his monthly appearance on the podcast, discussing late season adjustments, both on and off the court.
Q: Are there any warnings you’d give coaches regarding making late-season changes?
Cascio: In talking with coaches, a lot of them have asked something like, “I’ve seen _____ work against an upcoming opponent, should we install it?” My answer as purely a consultant is, “You should focus primarily on you.” Whatever that strategy you saw was, that was probably what that particular team has been doing since October. You doing it on Wednesday and Thursday probably isn’t going to serve you well on Friday. So, stick to who you are. Know what your strengths are. Double down on those strengths. And then maybe think about adding something small to what you currently have rather than adding something that’s completely new to your players.

Play of the Week: Central Arkansas Point Elevator Burn
For those of you who like a little Princeton offense, here’s a great ATO out of Point series. Head coach Anthony Boone with a familiar Princeton look but with a misdirection wrinkle to take advantage of an overplaying defense.

SSG of the Week: First to 3 1v1 Rebounding
Here’s an old school 1v1 rebounding game. The coach shoots. If the offense gets it, play is live. Every bucket is 1 point. If the defense secures the rebound, he becomes the offensive player. The first player to score 3 points wins.
